Knowing when to plant is very important when growing vegetables.

Cool season crops can take a light frost

Direct seed: lettuce, spinach, radish, onion, beets, carrots, peas, snowpeas

Transplants: broccoli, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts

Warm season crops need soil temperatures above 55 degrees Fahrenheit

Direct seed: beans, corn, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, squash, zucchini

Transplants: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants
